Parish Clerk of Court
You should apply for a marriage license at your local clerk of court. If you've decided to apply in EBR; Applications must be made in person by either party applying for the license. It is not necessary to have both parties present.

Requirements for a license

Applicants must be 18 years of age

Certified Birth Certificates for both parties (copies are not accepted)

Valid Government Issued forms of identification (DL, State issued ID, Passport, etc.)

Judgment of Divorce if applicable
Time Constraints
Marriage Licenses obtained in East Baton Rouge Parish are valid only for ceremonies performed in Louisiana; however, applicants do not need to be Louisiana residents.
A 24-hour waiting period between the time of issuance of the Marriage License and the ceremony applies. Marriage Licenses are valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issuance.
